New dental clinic to open in Brooklyn in 2020
NEW YORK, U.S.: More access to dental care facilities can only be a positive step toward improving the general health of people and benefiting the community. Welcome news for the people of Brooklyn and surrounding areas is the announcement that the New York University College of Dentistry (NYU Dentistry) will open a new dental care facility at City Point in early 2020. The aim is to bring high-quality, low-cost care to adults and children.
“We are delighted to bring our services to Brooklyn, along with our commitment to providing affordable care for local residents and learning opportunities for our dental students,” said Dr. Charles Bertolami, Herman Robert Fox Dean of NYU Dentistry.
According to NYU Dentistry, the facility will treat between 20,000 and 25,000 patients per year and will be staffed by NYU Dentistry faculty and advanced dental students. Similarly to its clinic in Manhattan, which provides dental care to approximately 75,000 New Yorkers each year, NYU Dentistry’s Brooklyn outpost will offer services at reduced cost and also accept Medicaid.
The new clinic will be located in a 15,000-square-foot space in City Point, a mixed-use commercial and residential complex in Downtown Brooklyn. This is close to mass transit, making it easily accessible to residents throughout Brooklyn and Staten Island. Construction began in June and the clinic will be completed in early 2020.
“NYU’s presence in Brooklyn has been one of the most exciting developments in the university’s recent history. Our academic programs, Brooklyn’s culture of innovation, and its diverse community have provided many opportunities for synergy, and we are pleased to now bring affordable dental care to the borough,” said NYU President Dr. Andrew Hamilton.
