NEWBERG, Ore., U.S.: Dental equipment manufacturer A-dec has announced that it has begun manufacturing personal protective equipment (PPE) in response to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. The company has developed a variety of such products that are critically needed by health care workers.

As a result of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, A-dec has launched programs and infection control resources to support health care professionals practicing dentistry during the crisis. After being contacted by a local health care worker from Legacy Health requesting assistance, A-dec employees worked around the clock for a weekend to develop prototypes of needed supplies. Within a very short time, the company converted several of its manufacturing areas in order to produce PPE for health and emergency responder systems in the local area.

“For more than 55 years, A-dec has lived by the principle of prioritizing concern for people above all else,” said Scott Parrish, president and CEO of A-dec. “As a family-owned Newberg manufacturer, A-dec is proud to bring much-needed PPE to Oregon’s health care workers. This is what we should be doing during this unprecedented time: working together to solve problems and take care of communities.”

Even though A-dec and its partners in health care have been able to mobilize their efforts in order to assist, the raw materials needed to manufacture PPE products are mostly in insufficient supply. Therefore, the company is calling on other product makers, suppliers and organizations to join them in supporting these efforts and reduce the continued risk exposure of workers and patients during this global emergency. To contribute, interested parties may contact the company directly at pr@a-dec.com.
